Glass Wool – Rock Wool Industry
Engineering Solutions

In glass wool and rock wool production, binder resin is sprayed onto fibres drawn from the melt and the product is shaped in a curing oven. We offer solutions suited to the needs of the line: accurate dosing of the binder, blowers for oven and process air, and pneumatic conveying of raw materials and recovered fibre.

Mineral wool lines combine a hot melting and fiberising zone with a wet binder system, and both run nonstop. Binder is mixed from resin, water and additives and sprayed onto the fibres, so dosing pumps must hold the ratio steady as line speed changes. Roots blowers supply process air for the curing oven and fibre transport, dense phase conveying handles abrasive raw materials and recycled fibre, and centrifugal pumps circulate process and wash water. For a proposal, send binder components and ratios, line throughput, air volumes and pressures, and raw material tonnages.

Frequently asked questions

How is binder dosing kept proportional to line speed?

Dosing pumps with speed or stroke control receive a signal from the line or a flowmeter, so the binder volume follows the throughput of fibres. Each component can have its own pump to keep the mix ratio exact. Flow range and turndown requirement determine pump size.

What makes dense phase conveying suitable for mineral wool raw materials?

Basalt, slag, cullet and briquettes are abrasive. Dense phase systems move them at low velocity, which reduces wear on pipes and bends and limits breakage of granular material. Particle size, bulk density, tonnage per hour and distance are needed for sizing.
