Engineering Solutions

In vegetable oil plants it is critical to move viscous products without damaging them, to run thermal oil circuits for refining, and to prevent oxidation in storage tanks. With gear and viscous-product pumps, thermal oil pumps and on-site nitrogen generators we solve the whole line from a single source.

Vegetable oil moves through very different conditions on its way from crushing to bottling: viscous crude oil at low temperature, hot oil in deodorisation, and finished product that must not pick up oxygen. Thermal oil pumps keep refining circuits at a stable temperature, heat exchangers recover energy between hot and cold streams, and nitrogen from an on-site generator blankets tanks and bottling lines to slow oxidation. Seals that withstand hot oil reduce leakage at pump shafts. For a proposal, send the oil type and viscosity at operating temperature, flow and pressure, thermal oil temperature, and tank volumes to be blanketed.

Frequently asked questions

What type of pump suits crude vegetable oil with high viscosity?

Positive displacement pumps such as internal gear or lobe pumps keep a steady flow as viscosity rises, where centrifugal pumps lose efficiency. Heating jackets help with cold oil. The viscosity range across your operating temperatures and any solids content determine the pump type and speed.

How much nitrogen does tank blanketing require?

Consumption depends mainly on how fast tanks are emptied, since the withdrawn volume must be replaced with nitrogen, plus breathing losses from temperature changes. Tank volumes, pump-out rates and the number of filling cycles per day let us size a generator that covers the peaks with buffer storage.
