When ozone generators are fed with dry, high-purity oxygen instead of air, they produce far more ozone for the same energy. We prepare the feed gas of ozone systems with PSA oxygen generators and air dryers, enabling effective use of ozone in water treatment, food disinfection and odour removal.

Ozone output depends on feed gas quality. Moisture forms nitric acid in the discharge cell, and air delivers a much lower ozone concentration than oxygen for the same power. A PSA oxygen generator with upstream dryers and filters supplies dry oxygen at a stable dew point, raising ozone output and protecting the cells. Centrifugal pumps drive side-stream injection and contact tank circulation in water treatment and food washing. For a proposal, send the ozone output required in g/h, the target concentration, the ozone generator model, and water flow and pressure at the injection point.

Frequently asked questions

How much oxygen does an ozone generator need per kilogram of ozone?

As a rough guide, ozone generators fed with oxygen produce around 6–12% ozone by weight, so roughly 8–15 kg of oxygen is needed per kilogram of ozone. The exact figure depends on the ozone generator’s design and operating point, which its data sheet specifies.

What dew point should the feed gas of an ozone generator have?

Most manufacturers require a dew point of -60 °C or lower. Wetter gas reduces ozone yield and forms nitric acid that corrodes the dielectric and electrodes. A PSA oxygen generator inherently delivers dry gas, provided the compressed air feeding it is properly dried and filtered.
